don't listen to those who have never tried? you don't need to try to know that a teleconverter, especially one working at high magnification does indeed degrade image quality. this is fact, not opinion. if the OP only wanted to hear something to convince him of what he already wanted, there wouldn't be much reason to start a thread. I was simply offering an opinion and valid factual information to consider. the truth is, a bellows or extension tubes would provide more magnification and better image quality. however, if he wants to retain automated control via the body, and can't find a set of A contact extension tubes, this is a good enough option.
I appreciate your advice. You're spot on with it.
I know that anytime you add glass image quality is degraded.
The image posted on this page is shot with a Raynox DCR250 hanging off the lens.

I do wonder if there is any way I might remove the glass from this piece , thus giving me a sort of zoom extension tube?
I would be able to stack it onto my existing 25mm Kenko pz /af extension tube. This would give me all the extension tube I would ever need or desire.

Also, if I broke down and bought the Tamron 90mm macro, which is a very nice macro unit, if in camera metering would still work with contact-less extension tubes?
I am assuming not.

So as you can see I need your valued advice, as well as the others who chimed in here.
