Isn't the body already under $1000 mark? At least here in Canada.

I dont see any any reason why price should change when the K-01 will be out. Also they have to be carefull if the price of the K-01 is too high , that could create a marketing problem . I could see the price of K-5 going up a little bit to make sure they keep a price differencial
In Canada , the K-5 is available under $1000 at 5 majors photo stores: Aden $955, Dons Photo $970 and Lozeau, Henrys, Simon's and The Camera store are at $999

I would think the price will continue to decline, more so after the K5 production stops let alone the K-01 introduction.

Its a possibility that the k-01 is not the k-r's replacement. The k-5 could replace the k-r while pentax positions the k-01 as the new flagship.

I wouldn't use the K-01 for what I do. The action occurs way to fast for tracking it with a screen.

What about trying one of these (or similar)?

Kinotehnik - The makers of LCVDF and LCDVFE

I think I will give it a try after reading that focusing is different (better ?) in Live View.

I just purchased a new K-5 body from B&H yesterday for a $1000. The website still says $1200, call for the lower price. My camera should arrive today, can't wait. I've been a Pentax film user for many years. I started with an ME-Super, my ZX-10 died last week. I'm looking forward to going digital.

The problem with that (for me) is I hand hold the Sigma 500mm F/4.5. That device would make it even longer. I am completing a monopod next week but I am not planning to use it all of the time.
