I have used the lens (DA18-135) since I bought it in June 2011 and love the colours that the lens produces. I have even loaned it to another friend to cover a wedding and even he commented that the colours were great. It has been underrated by the reviewers but owners of this lens love it.

Bonjour,

I really like my DA 18-55 WR, but the DA 18-135 WR is a bit "too rich" your my tastes/budget, as much as I would like to have it ... thus, I think that I will soon supplement with a DA 50-200 WR.

Has anyone used this lens extensively and what do you think about it ? ... I'd like the extra range beyond 135mm and I tend to shoot a lot in the 100 to 200 range. I have read the PF in-depth review plus the users' reviews as well, thus I have a good idea of the "limitations " of this lens.

There's a 50€ instant in-store rebate until the end of March at Phox Photo, plus I have another additional rebate voucher which would reduce the retail price by 30% ... thus I think that I'll go for it, because the price would be less than I could get it out of the States, etc.

Any input would be appreciated ... merci d'avance, J Frog

I'm in the same boat. Everyone raves about the 18-135 WR, but since i already have the 18-55WR, it would be nice to supplement it with the 50-200WR, but i don't see many people talk about it. Anyone have any feedback on that lens?

Bonjour GrantMeThePower,

This post is a copy of another thread that I started/asked about ...

See https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/176075-advice-...resistant.html

I'm probably going to get the DA 50-200 WR despite the fact that it's "shunned" in favor of the DA 18-135WR and/or th DA 55-300.

Allez et bonne lecture, J Frog

The 50-200WR is a good lens to complement he DA18-55WR and/or the DA18-135WR. I had the DA18-55WR beforeI sold that and got the DA18-135WR, but I stll kept the DA50-200R. Great for travelling.

The usability of a WR lens in the rain comes down to how gusty the wind is. If it's very gusty you face the problem of water drops getting on the front of the lens. That's where a deep lens hood helps. I shot for 70 mins in drizzle with a K20D + DA* 60-250/F4. Had no problems.

When you shoot though the intervening rain, the scene becomes "washed out". So be prepared to bump up the contrast. But in sporting stuff, what you lose in image quality is more than compensated by a certain "grit" which displayed by the players and it's exciting to capture that. See examples from the drizzly soccer match:

Awesome, I can't wait for my K-5 to get here, (only a few more days.) We're having some snow tomorrow and I'd love to be out shooting, but have to wait. I wish Pentax made an 18-250 F2.8 WR, I think that would be the perfect lens.

That would be too big and heavy probably.

Even if it had 200mm on the long end and wasn't f2.8, it would still be perfect for me with WR.
