The joy of WR!

I'm on vacation in Florida and went to NASA for an Atlas V launch last night. The launch ended up being scrubbed due to weather

I had my K5 + 18-135WR so I just kept shooting. The Nikons and Canons all ran for cover except one journalist with a Canon FF who advised me to get my camera under cover

I was polite and explained that my K5 is WR. He seemed impressed and asked if it was a FF. He seemed even more impressed when I said No.

The best part is that I just got to keep shooting

Haha, this makes me so proud!

I'm debating getting a 18-250 or 18-200 zoom vs a 18-135 WR. I think the WR might win in the end.

I am really happy with my 18-135 WR and my Sigma 30/1.4 also.

Get the DA18-135WR. You will not regret it.

What he said. Great lens, allowed me to shoot a nice panorama in the middle of snow tonight. That, and most of the 18-2XXs are *really* bad on IQ I hear.(Granted, both are super-zooms, but the 18-135 is both sealed, and rather sharp for it's massive zoom range)

Thank you will do so.

Question when you guys shoot when you need WR, what do you wear to prevent yourself from getting wet ?

It really depends on where I shoot. So far, got wet shooting an elephant in the zoo and got sprayed by it. Other times it was due to rain. I just wear a hat though.

Well, during the winter since it's mostly snow, a waterproof jacket is what I wear(Just a North Face snowboarding jacket). Summer time, I usually just go outside in normal clothes, but I'm not one to be afraid of getting a little wet.

Yesterday I was to a carnival with my kids, where we all were in the garden of some, friends hitting a barrel (weird danish tradition) in the rain. All the canikons were under a shed, but not my Pentax and I. Love the WR and the wider use it gives me.

K5 is perfect for boaters and anglers. I could rinse my k5 under a tap after a salt water trip. Also there are times when anglers have to wade to knee level. Having a wr dslr makes perfect sense. I look forward to Pentax to release more wr lenses, especially the 12-35 and 16-85. Perhaps the next k5 should learn from the oly omd.

About to purchase a DA 50-200 WR ... with 50 instant rebate

Bonjour,

I really like my DA 18-55 WR, but the DA 18-135 WR is a bit "too rich" your my tastes/budget, as much as I would like to have it ... thus, I think that I will soon supplement with a DA 50-200 WR.

Has anyone used this lens extensively and what do you think about it ? ... I'd like the extra range beyond 135mm and I tend to shoot a lot in the 100 to 200 range. I have read the PF in-depth review plus the users' reviews as well, thus I have a good idea of the "limitations " of this lens.

There's a 50 instant in-store rebate until the end of March at Phox Photo, plus I have another additional rebate voucher which would reduce the retail price by 30% ... thus I think that I'll go for it, because the price would be less than I could get it out of the States, etc.

Any input would be appreciated ... merci d'avance, J Frog
