Interesting... I've updated to 1.13 last week (from 1.12) but didn't really pay attention to the AF... I will do some testing with my 16-50 DA* as it didn't always focus perfectly in low light. We'll see if it's better with 1.13.

No real difference between 1.12 and 1.13. At least I have not noticed one.

I upgraded too and DID see an improvement in low light auto-focus but will need more time to evaluate further.

I downloaded 1.13 last night. Ive not messed much though as it was a bit late lol.
I did however notice a differance. Ive never liked the implemation of the K5, in that,
when you press a button its like there is a stupid delay sumhow. This has always irrated me sumwhat. I found that while I was messing and testing, everything was far quicker to respond. It feels like far more how it should be. A bit like, its no longer thinking about it and just does what you tell it to do ! Even the preveiw seems to come up quicker !

Since everyone is checking there autofocus ! I think this would be a good time to remind you and to inform those that may not know !
That little red focus square in the centre of your veiwfinder is not the focus sensor !
The sensor itself stretches out to the two semicircles ! Use the circle for focussing not the square !
Sorry this is a tad off topic but its important people know this, as its almost certainly
the biggest cause of oomph pics and so call front and back focus issues !

Still no solution to the flash overexposure issue. What the hell are you doing Pentax? This is totally unacceptable!

I just finished the update. My K5 not only focuses faster (on an average of .000000001 of a second), but will also remotely start my car and allows me to control my neighbor's TV!

Seriously though, I did notice that it took a bit longer to load this update than it did the previous ones. I wonder why? I used the same memory card, and the batteries are both freshly charged.

Because each new update included ALL previous one

Ive tried to spot anymore differances with 1.13 but if they are there im not seeing them.
There are two improvements for certain though. I can now use both types of card if ever the need should arise, and,
my actual button comands are now instant response. The weird delay has gone, thank god.

Well after the update, I walked quickly around the house testing focusing on items that were so dark I could hardly see them on the screen.
Only a couple of failures and they were objects with almost no contrast.
It was late at night when I installed it.

That was impossible before the update.

I'm really happy.

Are you saying it is the circle in the middle rather than the red square when you are using centre point focus?

even though the K-5 user guide states itself that the center focus point is the circle - see image, I'd rather say it is a cross inside the circle, like in my post you're quoting.
