Got my new K-5 yesterday!!!!

I got my new K-5 and I love it. I am a Nikon user, but I can't use K-mount lenses on my D700. I am in love with Pentax Limited lenses, so I decided to get K-5. I am super extra impressed with the camera, especially image quality. This is the best crop sensor camera (with Nikon D7000) on market. Recently I had a chance to play with Nikon D7000, Canon 7D and Oly E5. The image quality of K-5 (and Nikon D7000) is for my eyes superior to any other crop camera today. I just have one small issue with K-5. Once in a while, the focusing point navigator stops working and keeps the focusing point in the middle. If I turn OFF and then ON the camera, the problem goes away. Does anyone else have the same or similar issue? By the way, focusing is spot on and very accurate. I am not into chasing fast moving objects, so focusing speed is something I don't care much. Moreover, if I need faster focusing, I use D700.

Cheers,
Dan

Welcome to the K-5 World! Have you upgraded to the latest firmware?

Yes, the first thing I did when the camera arrived was to fully charge the battery and then update the firmware to 1.13 v.

Welcome to the forum and K5 ownership Dan. My K5 arrived a week ago, so I hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am enjoying mine (which is heaps).

Cheers

Mine is ordered but it'll be a week before I see it. I finally broke down and ordered it. Of course it took dropping the K-x and having only one DSLR for two photographers in the family was the big push. The K-x got mailed off to Pentax today. If we get it back it will be a back-up camera. We thought long and hard about a K-01, but we shoot wildlife with long lenses sometimes, and just couldn't imagine trying to stabilize a camera like that with a 2 lb lens on it, It would be great if they did, but wildlife don't always wait for you to set up your tripod.
