K5 is quite simply Awesome

After using Pentax for several years now and always for professional application, I can say without any hesitation, that the Pentax K5 is one of the best cameras on the market today. The output is outstanding and will be using them again for my next up and coming shoot for Harper's BAZAAR.

Indeed. The K-5 prints VERY well. I've got about 50 pages of editorial print from it in the last however many months since it came out, including a handful of covers; one of which was printed as a 300% crop. Still looks tack sharp.

Not that I've used every camera out there, but I've yet to see something that can best the image quality from the K-5.

Recently noticed this or just after the K-5 came out?

Pentax kept my business once I handled a K-7, and now even more-so with the interior improvements K-5 brought. I'd like to eventually replace the K-7 with a second K-5 because I use both cameras at once frequently, but I'll have to see what is next. I'm hoping the next camera will be like those two but with improvements in video among other things.

Welcome to the party benjikan! The K-5 has been out for more than a year now.

I agree about the K5... been out for a while now with so signs of ageing. Always annoys me- its still underrated and doesn't get the publicity of the others, just cos its Pentax!

Yes i love my K5'd dynamic range! Its very good for landscape at reasonable sizes and build/grip/layout/weather resistance. I started looking at the d7000 and once I picked it up, I was sold on the K5. Glad you're happy with it.

Congrats on the new acquisition Benjikan! I guess you got tired of waiting for K-Next? :-)
I'm actually surprised they didn't release it in February as well...everything pointed to it, but what came out was the K-01 :-P

I have a K20, and even though I can't afford it at the moment, please tell me why I should replace it with a K5!

Get a black cat out of black underexposed frame. That's how good the dynamic range is.
If you tried that w/ the K20D, you'd get craploads of ugly chroma noise....

I'm holding off for K-Next because I really want to get something good for HDSLR cinematic video (w/ manual control )

Just to link another thread's pictures - from a K-01, but the same sensor as the k-5. And also, since it's a shot of dynamic range, the k-5 will perform even better!

(Thanks to Frank and Richard for these pics)

Now tell me you can get the text on that box in the reflection on the left side from your K-20D

I'm looking forward to seeing your next set of shots in Harpers Ben. I've had my K5 for just over a year now and just love it. I still use my K10d as a backup and from time to time I use both bodies on a shoot putting the wide lens on the K10D and the longer lens on the K5. Dynamic range is great.
