K5 won't turn on!

Was just reading the thread on the new firmware so thought I had better update.

Got the camera out and turned it on. It made it's usual "turning on" noise, briefly displayed the batter indicator, then switched itself off.
Nothing esle but the batter indicator showed up on the top screen. The battery indicator shows full, which it probaby shouldn't, as I havn't charged it for some time.

I am hoping its just the battery but it doesn't look good. I have another in the battery grip but that may well be flat.
I have never managed to run the battery down before, so that is why I am worried.

Anyone else had this happen?

I think its likely to be nothing more than a low battery. Ive heard of it doing strange things when the batt is low.
I just hope it wasnt downloading the new firmware when it happned ?

Updating firmware with anything less than a fully charged battery is a big no-no.

Still waiting for the battery to charge, and yes I know not to attempt to update firmware with a low battery! I hadn't got that far as the camera wouldn't turn on.
I am probably just panicking about nothing...........

Charge the batteries, and make sure the sd card lid is fully closed....that gave me about 5 seconds of terror once on my k10

Uhhhmmmm...who is a silly noong? (noong is Australian for complete idiot)

Waited patiently for the battery to charge, Carefully inserted battery into camera. Turn switch. Oh no it still doesn't turn on!

Then I noticed something that until now had completely escaped my morning fuddled mind.
There was no card in the camera.

OK, I will return my Pentax camera user licence immediately and get in the line for electric shock treatment.

Hi Oz,
It still should turn on with no card.
I just tried it (again!!) and both LCDs display as normal. If you tried to take a picture it would then show 'no card'.

Yes Rod that is correct but the battery compartment door was open. I was trying not to have to mention that!

When you turn it on, wait for 1 min. Your hand feel on LCD if it is hot, it broke.
