Looking to buy K-5: Need to know about timelapse mode

How does one do timelapse on the K-5. I have the K-x currently and miss that feature. Also if possible would like to be able to do this without a computer.

There is a menu screen through which you select frequency and total number of shots. It's limited to 999 shots, but if you hook up the camera to a computer, you can get around that limit.

If you're planning to get a K-5 in the coming months, don't miss out on this: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-5-forum/178939-pentax-k-5-specia...ml#post1866834

You can find out more about how it works from the K-5 Manual (PDF- 9MB), under 'Interval Shooting' (p-152).

It pretty much works how Adam described.

PK_Tether also lets you do interval shooting - even on your K-x, but of course to use it you will need a netbook/laptop or PC.

There are other interval shooting options for the K-x and (K-5 too fwiw) that use the camera's IR remote support - like the Gentled intervalometer. It's simple, cheap and works a treat.

You can also use the Yongnuo TC-80 C1 on the K-5 (but not the K-x, unfortunately). I got mine used on this forum for ~$30 a while back. They're currently available on eBay for around the same price.
