TS, I beg to differ.
If based on what you say, that your lenses are what's listed below your signature, I'd suggest you get better lenses instead.
There will always be a next better body, and cheap 2nd hand K5 one the new camera comes out (or even the Kr replacement or K-01).

Better/faster lenses will let you have more photographic options and buy back that half to 1 stop ISO performance difference between K5 and Kr.

The K5 as been this US$999 here in Singapore for at least 2months already. (and certainly remains so).
I can't say the same for the US market and distro though, so take my words with a large dose of salt

How much better is the metering on the K-5 relative to the K-r, especially with backlit subjects or unusual lighting patterns? I know that the K-5 has far more metering segments than the K-r, but I'm not sure how large the practical advantage is.

I don't know how metering on the K-r stacks up against the K-5, but I can tell you that metering on the K-5 is really, really good (at least on my camera).

Metering should be less of an issue than things like AF performance, which most agree is better with the K-5. As a very happy K-r owner, I'd say go for the K-5, no question. It's indisputably a better camera, with incredible IQ and features.

I gotta say, I'm a bit concerned about the shutter of the K-r now. I'm at 22k clicks more or less, and you seem to be the second in a fairly short time with an issue.

Boy I am real tempted too. My Kx is still a nice camera but I do miss some of the controls.

@birddude007: Do you find the AF faster and more accurate than the Kx? Also, I have heard many say that they felt their lenses seemed to produce better images. Did you notice any with the change up from the Kx to the K5? This may just be due to the sensor or better AF algorithm, or AF microadjustments.

I havent really had much of a chance lately to really spend some quality time with the Camera, my lenses are "so so" lenses, I have been noticing that the autofocusing is a big improvement than the K-x produced, I cannot comment on the IQ yet because I am still dialing in the camera and since I shoot in RAW I havent had a chance to get them into Lightroom yet and play around with them. So far I noticed that the JPEG rendering in camera is a lot better than the K-x though
