Picking up a second body

Hello folks!

I am a recent Pentax convert, and in the process of building my new kit. I am a pro photographer, mostly doing the portraiture and wedding thing. I am also bringing a small kit to New York City. So far, this is what I have thought up:

Pentax K-5 (Delivered)
Sigma 10-20 or Tamron 10-24 (Deciding)
Pentax DA* 16-50 (Delivered)
Pentax 50-135 (Next Month)
Pentax 60-250 (Eventually)

Now, I am trying to decide on what my second body should be, a second K-5 while they are so cheap, or pick up a K-01.

Unless you are looking to shoot videos, I'd get a second K-5, or wait for its successor and upgrade to that, keeping your K-5.

I am more than happy with the K-5. I am not really in a rush to buy the upgraded body when they release one. I am leaning more towards a second K-5 myself.

In any case, you might want to take a look at the K-01 review: Pentax K-01 Camera Review - Review Introduction - PentaxForums.com

It should help you determine whether or not the K-01 is right for you or not

Ah yes, I forgot about that. I will be getting at least one OEM D-BG4 in the near future.

I would get another K5. Mainly because of the whole muscle memory thing. You are using a camera and it is nice if when you switch to your second one it has the same layout. The K01 would feel very different from a number of different standpoints.

Unless you really have a special need for a mirrorless i can't see a better deal than another K5. I would think there wouldn't be much of a need for a the K-01 with weddings especially when attaching a flash. I am considering a K-01 but I already have 3 K5s and I would definitely have a the third K5 over the K-01

Always difficult. If you are not in a rush, you could wait and see if there will be an upgrade for K-5 soon. There was some unidentified rumor about K-5n (wich would be just a little upgrade to K-5 if true at all). I use K-5 Silver and K-5 and picking up a K-01 soon. I guess all options would serve you well, but for convenience it is better to have two the same working body's.
