K5 Info button unsealed?

Hi all,

I read a thread that the K7 has clear silicone seals, and so this explained the ability to see light emitting from the info button when the LCD is on. However, I can't find a similar answer for the K5. I have the same "issue": I can see light emitting from the Info button when the rear LCD is on. Its only the left side half, the right side is dark. None of the other buttons have this issue. A mate has a K5 (about 6-9 months older than mine? Mine arrived in the store I bought it from a week ago), and his does not have this issue.

Any responses greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

Hi all,

168 views and no one has a response ;-) ? Could someone please try out their K5: in a darkened room turn on the rear LCD and cover it over with your hand, look at the Info button (you may need to look from the right side towards the left) and see of you can see some light; turn off the LCD (eg. press the shutter button) and see if it goes away. This is particularly of interest if your K5 is a newer one, like mine manufactured after Nov 2011 (ser: 422xxxx). I know of two K5's made before June 2011 or so which do not display this "issue".

Cheers,

Dave

Sigh.
Have a cup of tea and a lie down. I don't understand what you are making such a fuss about.

I think you need a lie down :-) I am trying to figure out if my $1100 camera is broken...I did put in a winking smiliey in the first line, and waited 24 hours before posting that follow up, my friend :-)

Cheers Bill,

Thanks a lot. Seems there is an issue, and I'll have to contact the distributor :-(

I have two K-5's and neither of them emits light from around the info button. I have not been able to find out my camera manufacturing dates. I tried the online gadget here and also looked at EXIF files to no avail.

Use PhotoMe and at the bottom filter bar (search field) as soon as you start to type: Man... The date will come up.

If the filter bar does not show at the bottom click the magnifying symbol at the very top to the right of the words File Menu

Greetings

Hi all,

No April fools day Joke - my K5 really does this, and appears to be the only one :-(

Thanks everyone for the time and effort!
