Great Australian K-5 Price

Bloody hell, unbelievable! I paid 1600 for one and 1500 for the other.. or thereabouts. I'm feeling squeamish right now and I won't say thanks either.

Good price but that is a Hong Kong store, not an Australian one.

I got mine from here, and paid en extra $10 for insured post, got it in less than 2 days from hong kong.

Pentax K-5 Body Only Digital SLR Cameras

All up $872

Also this company has a warranty agent in Sydney, I don't think many other HK companies offer that.

You are right they fooled me. Still a good price as compared to DC Wharehouse $1149.
I would be concerned about warranty though given all the issues with the K-5.

I think most k-5 issues have been resolved by now and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it grey now. But I think $1149 is cheap especially since I got mine for $1650 a year ago at JB Hifi back then sensor stains were still fairly common so grey was out.

I do hope all the issues are resolved, I'm on my third body in 5 months due to mirror flop issues.

*sigh* bought a K5 from a member recently for a good price, but sadly still waiting for the camera to arrive... saw a guy advertised a K5 locally for $800 but apparently he said it has some "display issues" which he would not elaborate on or can't describe, but still would be covered by warranty.... hmmm.... dodgy...

I got mine a few months back from DCW for $1159 with an extra genuine Pentax battery.

Quite happy with that from a bricks and mortar store with full Oz warranty.

eglobal and DWI are the same store, for what it's worth. They're just two different shopfronts; and you'll find some pricing different on each to make them seem like different stores, but it's the same place in HK.

DCW, however, is a bricks and mortar store here in AU (in fact, several stores in a few capital cities). If you value warranty and service, DCW are the best in the country (price wise particularly, compared to the likes of Teds) but if you want lower prices, compare both DWI and eglobal as there are minor differences between them.

DWI, eGlobal and the like means effectively no warranty at all. Despite what they claim about being able to send your camera back to Hong Kong for warranty, time and time again I read of people getting knocked back for warranty work due to various reasons (mostly involving blaming the user for the camera fault, or denying there is a fault at all).

DCW on the other hand are first class for service and warranty.

Yes, +1 for DCW. Sometimes, especially when something goes really wrong, it's worth paying a little extra to a reputable local business. They have always treated me well.
