My friend just purchased a K-5. When he took it out the box, with just a little bit of shaking, you can hear a clunking noise inside, as if some mechanism was loose or not properly anchored. It seems to take pictures however.

I don't have any such noise with my K20D.

Is this normal?

Nothing to worry about, it's the shake-reduction mechanism moving. I think we've all been there.

Thanks...I fished around here and found that out. He was pretty concerned when he first heard it. I don't have anything like that with my K20D.

At least now he feels relieved and is looking forward to becoming our newest Pentaxian.

You should have something similar in the K20. Not exactly the same but similar. And it is described in the manual...

Your K20D is faulty

I have the K10D as well as the K5 and both have the behavior. But I don't hear a / the noise, just can feel something moving.
