top-quark, have you upgraded your firmware? Because if you are shooting jpeg, with no aftereffects turned on, below iso 3200, the preview should be pretty much instantaneous, (Well, less then a second.)
Thanks for the suggestion. Went from 1.10 - 1.13. No dice. Something I'll have to put up with I guess since I've just sold my K-r.

If I shot 3~4 photos continuously, it's even worse.

You, guys, definitely have some corrections on.

Press info button, everything must be off there. Then you'll get instant review.

All corrections are off, but the K-5 is definitely slow. Shoot a burst and it's just painfully slow, so much so I've given up on any image review in the field with the only exception where I want to see a histogram.

I'm afraid that there's no camera that will give you instant review after shooting a burst.

interesting- I have turned on lens correction and ch.ab. correction while having the 18-55 ALII put on and I wait approximately 1 second for the taken -RAW- image to appear. but this time is longer when the FA 35 is on. interesting interesting.

True, but less than 15 seconds would be nice

Yes, but it should be comparable to others

Just to make a check list

- highlight & shadow adjustment
- lens correction
- noise reduction

Those are the three that add most of the processing time

You can do a back to factory reset to see if that helps if those 3 things are really off.

A burst of 5-6 jpeg takes about1-2 sec to display, while a raw burst until filled buffer do take almost 15sec. That is a long wait, luckily I pretty much never shoot like that.

As someone already mentioned, the preview does not appear unless you let go of the shutter button....

If I take a single picture then the image appears on the LCD almost instantly.

When shooting bursts the time it takes to display the pics largely depends on the card I use. Unsurprisingly it takes much longer with my slow(er) Sandisk Ultra card than with the fast(er) Extreme III. Surely it could be faster even with the Extreme III, but I knew the K-5 was not an action reporter camera for machine gunning when I bought it.

I got to this thread via a google search. I am (was) having the same problem with a 2 day old K-5. I did a hand held shot while looking at the rear screen and then counted. I got to about 3 ish seconds untill the image was shown. In that time there was the rotating hour glass to show "work in progres" I looked at the settings I had made and it was the 'Lens Correction Setting' that had made it slow to review the image. After turning the 'Lens Correction' ( under camera/1/Lens Correction) in the menu, I was able to get an instant review of a shot image. Well as instant as 'take pic' remove from eye and look type of instant'. The other settings for Dynamic Range setting (camera/3/D-Range setting) were also on but after taking them off and trying it made no difference so I reinabled them ie: Highlight correction and shadow correction. Hope this will help others to speed up their review times.

K-5 review speed is still slower than my old K-r, but I've got used to it now.

You know what: I've gotten used to the quiet shutter too.

If you want to see how slow our K-5 is then just develop 100 RAW files that you shot in the camera to jpg with all lenscorrections on in camera. You can sit down, make coffee and sip it slowly
