A very dirty K5 on the cover of Pop photography

Just received the May 2012 issue of Popular Photography with the K5 covered in mud on the cover..
The weird thing is the Pentax brand and the "K5" is hidden on the body, but it's right there on the lens...

How do you know it's a K-5? Is it mentionned inside the magazine? I can easily take it for a K-7. See this side by side images showing K5, K7 and K-01 https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-cameras-compared/?c1=k5&c2=k7&c3=k01

It's a K-7, look at the mode dial

Also, they didn't use a weather sealed lens... *claps*

You guys are right! I forgot about the K7 possibility... They don't mention the model inside, they just say it's an "albeit rugged DSLR".

Good observation. The mode dial is thicker on the K5

What a joke ... but past April Fool's Day

Bonjour,

A discontinued DSLR (K-7) on the front cover ... plus without a "WR" lens to boot !!!

I thought only the French were capable of such non-sense ...

For you "Faulty Towers" fans ... never drop the F--- F----- bomb in a PF thread ... things will explode after that!

Well, to be fair, it's not because it's discontinued it's no good anymore... It's more of a praise showing off the K7 weather seals.. even though they probably ruined that lens!
No, I think non sense is universal!!

I don't know why they removed the brand and the model from the camera...unless Pentax requested they do it....but I doubt that. Just when Pentax has a DSLR grace the cover of the most "Popular" photo magazine, and they go and not only remove branding but also use the wrong lens. A few pages later they have a review for the new "Pocket Wizard Plus" where you can see clear as day that it is sitting and the new and very marketable X-S1....so why did they scrub the Pentax logos. Very curious why they did that.

They probably don't expect their readers to pay attention to details.

They did Feb '11 when they praise the K5 to high heaven!

Some art director got a cheap used K-7 off eBay and smeared it with mud. Maybe the same art director who draped the W-2 with glycerine, mashed potatoes and food coloring

Not only is that not a WR, it is the original optical design of the DA18-55mm AL, its not even the AL II.
