Me too, bought my K5 last November, I am still on a learning curve but it's been a dream, best camera I've ever had (going back to my first ME) and no significant issues. I just have to remember that "horizontal" is two notches to the left on the scale, on the rare occasion that I use it.

I must say this camera is giving me hours and hours of pleasure. I am so happy i got one. Compact, intuitive, very good image quality. It quickly became an extension of my eyes and hands. I love it.

Great thread! Planning on ordering mine next week. My K10 and K20 have been flawless, and I've worked them plenty on school portraits, weddings and tourist shoots on the beach. I am looking forward to the capabilities of the K-5, especially coupled to my FA limited lenses.

It's been a year...no problems whatsoever due to any fault of the K5....considerable User Error.
Regards!

Flawless

Over 22,000 pictures in a little over 14 months use, no problems at all. I just bought my first prime lens to add to my four zooms and I think I'm seeing even greater sharpness than before. Lots of scenery pictures and a lot of sports shots, with many of the sports shots benefiting from the good low-light performance. I'm a happy customer. I just wish the Pentax lenses were priced like they were a few weeks ago.

That makes at least two of us. I had just finished buying zooms for a bit (thanks to the warning on this forum my last purchase was on 3/31!) and I had just started to consider primes when the prices effectively rocketed upwards.

More lens purchases are currently on hold for me and luckily my DA* zooms produce some very nice images.

Mine's fine

Doing fine with my Christmas present.

Well, there is the issue of this being a much better camera than I'm a photographer...and I don't have enough lenses. I think that covers it.

I got mine, in part, to record Christmas presents.

Oh and the K-5 is no snob, it'll pull you up to its level in no time... but do thank it with the odd bit of new glass now and then.

The K-5 is a wonderful machine! Got mine 11 months ago, and it has come with me up mountains and down rivers, it has survived a Nordic winter and a 40+ centigrade African heat spell, all without a hitch. 7k+ actuations and happily counting.

I'm on my second K5 (first one was stolen) and I find it to be very helpful and polite. I have had no problems or malfunctions with it at all, despite dropping it and being a bit free and easy with it in rain. It's far the best digital camera I have ever used.

Got mine in June 2011, shutter count is around ~6500. No problems, it's a tremendously great camera.

ok i will add mine to the "no issues" list.
something strange happened, when i bought the camera, the electonic level was off by 2-3 bars... i tried it several times using different bubble levels, i tried it on known leveled surfaces, and it was definitely off.
the firmware update didnt do anything.
one month and ~1000 shots later, i tried the level again, and to my surprice it seems to be ok !!!
i dont know what it is... a temporary glitch maybe ? i tried to take a pic using the auto level correction, and it worked flawlessly...
after that, i can say i have a good machine.
the focusing is as good as it can be.
the sensor is clear of stains
the weather proofing works
I LOVE IT!
also, today, i saw another man using a k-5, he told me his cam had no issues(didnt check the serial), and also realised how rare and scarse we pentaxians are...

yeah you don't see many Pentax users around. I see mostly Canon now that life is digital, back in the 80's I saw mostly Nikon . . . 35mm observation, Medium Format is a different game . . . I saw Bronica, Hasselblad, Mamiya and Pentax during film years, now it is the die hard Hasselblad users are doing the H series, Mamiya is a mixed bag many with the Phase One version and the late comer Pentax 645D is making a good showing for not being around very long.
