First day out with the Pentax K-5

Hi Everyone,

First day out with my brand new K-5 today! I've just jumped ship from the Nikon camp, where I've had a range of Nikon gear over the years.

Loving my K-5 so far, and really impressed with the package overall! I'm particularly impressed with the 18-55mm WA for a kit lens... of course it has some limitations, but it's very real compared to so many other kit lenses. Miles ahead of Nikon's 18-55VR in build quality - much closer to their 18-70mm kit lens that was included with the D70 all those years ago.

Here's a few quick snaps from a short bike ride with the kids this afternoon - still have quite a learning curve to get to know how to drive this camera, but I'm really liking it so far.

Thanks!

Luke.

Hi mate,
I'm afraid your images are not showing.

Good change... I'll have to edit this message now!

Did you get new Pentax kids or are the the same Nikon ones? Enjoy the K-5 its a relaxing machine to use.

Gah! They were fine when I put them up. I think Dropbox is doing something funny... I'll put them on flickr and change the URLs.

Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome Rondec! We love our bike rides

I love the Morning in the Garden shot in your gallery. Nice!

The interesting thing I'm finding is that the colours really pop out of this camera! These shots have very little post processing done on them - a little exposure compensation maybe before converting to jpg from raw, then resized in GIMP and a touch of unsharp mask after resizing. That's pretty much it. Normally with my D90 I would have been adjusting levels and cranking the saturation a bit too.
