I searched Nextag for K5 competitive prices and found this one:

Anyone familiar with this seller and is this legit? Since they are so much lower than the rest, I am suspicious of this seller.

That site's about 160 dollars cheaper than Amazon. I wouldn't bother, the price is so low they really can't be for real. If you're really holding to a budget, I suggest buying a used one off of the Pentax Forums marketplace from a buyer with some good feedback. At least you'll know what you're getting.

I bought my K-5 last week. There were several sellers Ist under $900. All of them were grey market cameras, if you ask about US warranty they then say it will cost $1000 or more for the camera.
Just my experience, good luck with your purchase.

(I decided to pay a bit more to a trusted company)

Ryther Camera has a physical store, so I do not think they are going to run away after selling the camera. I was going to buy from them before the cameraland offer for 899 on ebay. It seems they are reliable. Call them ask for US warranty to confirm.

Thank you for your research. I had forgotten about grey market, however, as a Canadian buyer... it would not make any difference if I bought U.S. or grey market, neither would be warranted.

There are currently two K-5 ads; one is highly suspicious, the other comes with a lot of low value and unneeded parts.

I probably would not have any way. I was simply asking if the price was legit. As others have stated, it is probably grey market.

If they are shipping they have to charge tax of the province they ship to so unless you are going to Calgary you won't beat the tax. If you are going to calgary you can always ask them to match Aden's price since if Aden ships to alberta they charge alberta tax

Oh yes, for Canadian, we do have 2 years warranty if bought from a canadian Pentax dealer

Always check with pentax usa first. They'll honor the warranty if you have the sales receipt from a u.s. seller or from canada.
There are probably exceptions if they are grey market.


Last I checked, Rhyther used there own in house warranty, not the USA warranty. Beware.

Right now the minimum selling price for the K-5 is $1096.95. If you see any dealer selling it for less, then it's gray market and the warranty won't be honored in the US.

If the camera is being sold by a private seller and was originally purchased before the pricing changes, though, I still think you'll get warranty.
