Need to reset image numbering to match shutter count

Okay, so I have my K5 to name image files K5__XXXX. The first picture I took was K5_0001, the second was K5_0002, etc.

Well, I needed to take a picture with my Canon point and shoot and I didn't have an extra memory card, so I loaded the one from my K5. Then after a few shots, I put the memory card back in the K5. The canon was on something like img_5670. And when I fired my next shot with the K5, it apparently adopted the counter that the Canon camera used - so the next shot was K5__5671

I'm not figuring out a way to fix it. I formatted the card. I renamed the previous file to K5__0456 (the actual shutter count as of now) in the hopes that it would do the same thing and adopt K5__0457 but it didn't. It just keeps the 56xx number and going up.

I would like to have my image numbers match the shutter count and not just skip ahead 5600 spots. How do I go about doing this? I want the next shot on my K5 to come out as K5__0458 rather than K5_5673.

Posted too soon, I figured it out.

In case anyone else finds this thread and needs to figure it out: Go to camera options page 5, then memory, then page 2. Uncheck file number. Format the card. Take a picture. That'll be name0001. Put the card in your computer, rename that picture you just took (the only one in the camera) to name####, wherever you need the numbers to start. Go back into the option menu and turn on remember file numbers. Stick the memory card back in and take a picture - it should be incremented 1 up from whatever you renamed it to.

You will eventually come to a point where your picture count can not equal you shutter count, that is past 9999 (10,000).

I know, and that bugs me. I assume it resets to 0001?

There are extra spaces, so I don't know why it won't let you use more of them for numbers. I'd like to be able to have them be named up through K5999999, but it only lets you use the last 4 digits. Oh well.

Manually insert a 1 when it flips, instead of K5__ as your prefix, use K5_1

K5__9999 ==> K5_10000
