Mini HDMI port to mini display on macbook

Has anybody tested connection from the mini HDMI port on the K5 to a mini display port on a macbook? What I'm trying to do is obtain immediate playback on a macbook, to check the result of a shot, instead of going through the camera playback on the LCD...?
Pentax Canada says they never tested this feature whereas the "big" competition offers this possibility?
It appears that there is no mini display port/miniHDMI cable available and the only solution is using an separate adapter in between.

The Macbook does not have an input. It only outputs to an external screen.

The miniDP port is an output port, not an input. I don't think there is even a USB or Firewire solution available.

Since it isn't possible otherwise, the "big" competition offers true tethering software.

Thank you all. I'll just cruise along and wait for something new on this from Pentax, or, use a monitor (one of these days) with HDMI input.

well, in the latest models the thunderbolt port can be used for input. You send video in and you can watch it, and record it, through QuicktimeX. Im sure it can handle signals from a thunderbolt device, but from an hdmi device... well i think you need and adaptor for that.

by adaptor i mean something like this

When Apple releases the new MBPs at WWDC next month they should have USB 3 as well.

Plus, those devices are overkill for what the OP wants. The OP was just looking for playback.

Something like this might work...
