Pentax K-5 Dials

I just got a Pentax K-5 and love it. But I have a question in regards to the three dials on the camera. They seem a little cheap. Feels like lower grade plastic and the 2 adjustment dials on the right have a bit of a cheap clicky feel.

Anyone else notice this?

okay the dials on the right actually feel like they are rubber upon second examination. But they have a cheap clicky feel.

To tell the truth I like the feel of them better than on my Kx. It was weird getting used to the mode selector dial because I had to press the button in the middle of it to turn it.

To me they feel as cheap as Nikon D3s dials. So, I think, they are OK

Is your K-X weather resistant? Perhaps the dials feel the way they do because of the weather sealing?

I moved from k-x to k-5 and like the dials much better on the k-5. They do sound different but I think that is the weather seals. The mode dial is far superior, especially the button to prevent accidental changes which always got me.

You don't have to like the k5 just because everyone says its better. I can understand your liking the kx better having made the transition myself. The important thing is to use the tool that feels right for you.

I like the mode dial of the K10D and K100D better than the mode dial of the K5; they feel more solid and I don't like the 'lock' button. It probably has its use but I have never picked up my older cameras and found the mode dial to be changed.
