Originally posted by Class A It is not worth that much anymore, you can buy it for a lot less money now.
so i should go out and buy a new camera or demand money back from amazon where i bought it?
Originally posted by Class A I am not quite sure I understand your position. You knew about the problem from the beginning but decided not to take action when Pentax publicly invited everyone to send their camera in and have the issue repaired for free.
i knew nothing about the sensor stains. i knew there were spots initially, but because i used wide apertures they did not cause a problem too often. i also hoped that the dust removal action would clear them evetually and occasionally i'd use a rocket blower to help.
just because you read something somewhere on the internet about Pentax doesn't mean i have.
Originally posted by Class A Now you decide that it is an issue and the fact that someone offered to try and see whether the issue can still be treated as a warranty case is not good enough?
i have not decided that this is NOW an issue. it always has been one. recently i have been trying hyperfocal shots which always involve closing in the aperture blades. not until i cleaned the sensor 4 times with no effect did i read about the sensor stains.
the official Pentax dealer said they might be able to fix it under warranty. this also means that they might want to charge me and with no indication of any kind with costs i am NOT going to take the chance of having a substantial bill and a 3 week wait at a camera that cost me quite enough in the first place.
Originally posted by Class A I agree that the stains issue should ideally not have happened in the first place, but once affected units were sold, Pentax could hardly do more than recall affected cameras, which they did with a public apology.
Pentax did not contact me.
Originally posted by Class A Fingers crossed Pentax will exchange the sensor for you free of charge even now, but I still have trouble to understand your frustration when you were the one to put yourself into the situation you are in right now.
that's right. i put myself in this situation for buying the Pentax camera.
i explained all of the above in my first post and confirmed it with the subsequent one. i used your Queen's english in both. if you did not read my posts then you should not comment. if you did, then i think you need your eyes tested.
