What's the fastest SDHC card the K5 can take advantage of?

I'm looking into a new memory card. I shoot some action shots and so it would be worthwhile to me to get a faster card if the K5 can offload its buffer to memory fast enough to take advantage of it. I was looking at a Sandisk Extreme card that writes around 40MB/s. But would the K5 be able to offload data to the card at 40MB/s? Would it make a real difference over say a 15-20MB/s card? Or is the K5 capped at a certain transfer rate?

I think it's capped just under UHS-1. So the fastest card slower than that will indeed make a difference.

It isn't, UHS-1 is 10MB/s + so class 10 is just as fast but UHS uses a different bus capable of higher speed.

Anyway the max of the K5 is about 20MB/s but i wouldn't be to concern about that.
Cards last often longer then you camera so get one of decent speed, also i sometimes get home with 16GB off data so the extra speed is then very nice with the computer.

Did people confirm the max was 20MB/s by testing the buffer clear time on a known amount of data with a card that's capable of faster transfer?

This is probably the Fastest card...but it will only operate in Class 10 mode in the K5. It is only a smidgen faster than the regular extreme cards in class 10 mode and is more than twice the price.

You can get two of these for less than the price of one of those.

It's hard to confirm it but Ron did some simple tests.
Basically he filled the buffer and recorded the time and calculated the transfer rate of the whole system, he came with a number around 20MB/s, that's the best we can do.
