af illuminator always on?

Why do not you put a menu item to keep lit af illuminator?
Would choose which conditions to use it forever.

Use the flashlight option in your phone if you want that

In all seriousness, I think that having the light on all the time would throw off white balance/metering and wouldn't help the AF system much anyway.

thanks for the reply adam
I noticed that live view turns more often than conventional AF illuminator.
If you could turn from the menu only on af keypress when needed could be helpful I think.
What do you think?

If I understand you, you're saying it you want to be able to use the AF Assist lamp only when you use the AF button on the back? That's an interesting idea. I was kind of wondering why that button was there, when the half-depressed shutter does the same thing. I'd also like a way to selectively force use of the lamp. If only pentax took suggestions on firmware ideas
