Fingerprints/Grit on New K5 Kit Lens

Purchased a new K5 from B&H with the kit lens and an FA-31. Out of the box the view through the kit lens was awful...fingerprints (or they seemed to be) and grit of some sort. Put the FA-31 on the K5 and the view was crystal clear. Called B&H and they were awesome...set me up with a prepaid return...new kit is on the way (thanks B&H!!). Any thoughts on what might have been wrong with the original kit lens? Anyone else have a similar problem?

Welcome Aboard! Glad B&H treated you right. No idea what you got, a returned item perhaps? But glad that you've gotten a solid positive reply from B&H.
