I got my K5 really only because it was on sale and my k100D super was kinda long in the tooth I really didn't think I would use it all that much. Shortly after buying the camera I became interested in Wildlife photography it only seems natural I guess since I am outside and always fishing, hiking or what have you. Anyway even though I had a K100 I never used it like a dslr I only used it in auto mode so I count the k5 as my first true real camera and its been a great to learn on. I have to say Pentax makes one hell of a good camera in terms of ergonomics and build quality I have dropped my K5 and DA300 combo off my car on to pavment and the other day I dropped it into a pond and it still runs like a charm. I have tried the Nikon D7000, D300 and Canon 7D and the K5 is overall I think a better camera that far easier to use and built better. My only dislike is the AF I mostly photograph birds and its not very good but for if your doing anything other then action then its fine for 90% of people.
I am really hoping the K3 or what ever it will be called is awesome and has a new AF with at least 19 points and that 560mm lens comes out if not I think I am going to move to two brands probably Canon just because they have such good lenses for wildlife and good AF and keep Pentax around for bad weather and general stuff.
