Pentax k5 stains

So i got a new k5 and I have 2 small stains on the sensor but when using 55-300 the stains are all over the place.
Cant really see it that much with other lenses except for the 55-300 /f16/iso 400
My question is, is this because of glass reflections or am I missing something? .. ohh and the camera froze during the test, had to remove battery. Just want to confirm it before sending it back .
Snr:4332...

PS: Dont mind vignetting , my fault

they don't look like stains to me (at least until it is proven); it is certainly dirty... did you by chance, change lens while you are outdoor with lots of wind?

Looks like dust or dirt to me.

Have you:

(a) run the Dust Removal function a few times [Setup 4 menu > Dust Removal > OK]?
(b) run the Dust Alert test function (p-341 of the K-5 Manual)?

From (b), what does the saved Dust Alert image show? Post the resulting JPG.

All 'stains' I've had shown to me look greasy/oily, with rings around them like splatter marks. Dark spots alone are most often dust.. hope it's still true for your sake.

Yes. But if it shows dust where you see stains, that will be a good result.

The stains classically look like strings of pearls, and tend to remain in the one place. They aren't known to move around the sensor from lens change to lens change.

I had the dreaded sensor stains on my first (early) K5 and it was exchanged for another model without stains by Pentax Canada. This does not look like sensor stains, but more like dust on the sensor to me.

Hi

So i did the dust alert thing and I cant really see anything. Talked to pentax and they say it's probably dust but they will clean it for free. I will know more when i get it back next week.
@bobmaxja: what are the odds of having dust on a brand new k5 with brand new lens on the first day? Seen dust before on my previous pentax but never like this.
Thanx everyone, much appreciated!

Another slight possibility is that is not a brand new camera - erroneously shipped? Have you check shutter count and build date from exif? Though the SN you provided (43xx) seem to be new batch. I have a 43xx serial number with build date April 2012.

So this is how it ended: Got k5 back from pentax today. Along with the camera there was a note from pentax repair shop: "Sensor replaced"

..so I'm guessing it was not just dust, but they fixed it in no time

Cheers and thanx everyone.
