If The New Camera Isn't Significantly Better,,,,

than the K-5(higher MP's/articulated LCD screen, etc), I 'll just buy a late-model K-5. I don't want incremental progress, I want a lump-some advance. I predict(w/fingers crossed) that the K-1 will have 40MP's.

Provided you can get a K-5!

Increasing number of posts indicate supplies of K-5's are dropping fast, so you might need to make the decision now before any of us know about the new K-?.

I'm in the same posiiton; been waiting a long time to upgrade from my K20D.

Remember that when the K-5 was released, it sold for $1600. It's now available at B&H for $879. That's a bargain price. How much better would a K-3 have to be to make it worth an extra $700 over a K-5?

I am sure there will be some improvement, but the K5 certainly satisfies me for the present. We'll see. May just skip the next camera though...

In my opinion, the K5 is a superb image making machine, made all the better by the current low price. I grabbed mine a few weeks ago and sold my K20d, I have no regrets at all.
If you need one, get it - quickly.

I have also recently upgraded from a K7 to a K5. Brilliant camera, high ISO blows the K7 away!

It was only £630 (after the £50 cash back) - bargain!

I may also skip the next model. I didn't buy a camera for 30 years after the LX debuted.

I've just bought a K-5 from USA supplier. I could not afford to spend $1600 so at current pricing it's the first time the K-5 is affordable enough for me. Great camera. Fantastic feel, good quality, absolutely no problems. I hope the next model is even greater than this one but will have to wait until the pricing comes dwn before I can even think of upgrading.

I would point out no 'real' camera has an articulated screen and suspect its probably seen as a consumer function so would not be implemented in a 'pro' class camera.

You're right as only the Sony's have it. The manufacturers have got to know that everyone isn't as flexible as Galen Rowell once was. I have Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis I'm both knees along with multiple tears also in both which prevents me from squatting for even a minute.I loved to do waist-level shots with my LX's action finder.

Whether it's considered "pro" or not, an articulated LCD is sometimes very useful.

Pentax has already released a camera that's not significantly better than the K5 --- the K30.

Be a bit more enthusiastic about your brand, people. The K5 was a great camera back then, and that was during Hoya's dark reign. What do you think the engineers have been doing in the last years and months?

Expect great things from Pentax.
