You might add the DA 55-300 lens to your arsenal. Here is a link to a shot I took of a hummingbird with it reached out to 300mm.

Do you ever explore Red Rock of Valley Of Fire?

I have not as of yet. I've only been retired out here 18 months so far. I would really love to go to Utah and shoot the rock formations there. :-)

Meant to say Red Rock OR Valley of Fire. The little town of Blue Diamond can provide photo ops too. Where are you from originally? I was stationed there from '83-'89. I hope to come back for the Table Tennis Nationals in Dec and want to go to RR, but if the camera hasn't been repaired by that time, I'll just stay on the Strip.

I lived in suburban Detroit until the economy died in 2001. I did mostly industrial electrical work and commercial if I had to. Then I went to DC, ended up meeting my wife there and stayed for ten years. Then I got black listed by the contractors assoc due to an accident (slip and fall, blew up the bottom 3 discs ) so I came out to Vegas when the boom was on in 2007. That's when I decided I wanted to retire out here. I love the dry weather, less pains, except July and August although June was pretty hot this year too.
