Called CRIS Today About K-5 Lens Button...

and they said a guesstimate would be around $199 if not under warranty(the price also covers the SD card issue I'm having). What stinks is that the camera has to be shipped back@my cost if I want to use the three-year warranty I purchased from Certified Digital(they suck)and used locally with more down-time.

If the new camera isn't better than the K-5, I'll get another and not get caught with my pants down again.

I'm not surprised, I'll be doing this in a bit too but I've got to get the mirror flop issue fixed as well so the button should be peanuts.

I imagine the SD card issue costs most of the $199.

(just a guess with no particular info)

Does the serial number on the K-5 have anything to do with the lens removal button popping off? Or did they not fix this problem and it could happen to any body?

I now have to send the camera to N.Y. for the retailer to determine if it was abused. If they can't fix it, I get a replacement.

My K-r arrived at CRIS July 11 for mirror flop repair. Part was back-ordered. The camera arrived yesterday - exactly 8 weeks after it arrived at CRIS. Hope you have better luck.

It appears not.
I've read a report of someone getting it fixed and it falling off again. (only once though)
That being said, it has happened to both our camera's which were purchased within 3 months of each other. Which is quite sad tbh. though on a plus side, the work looks solid. Whatever the case, I'd grab a replacement button if it ever happened out of warranty myself.

Didn't someone say Pentax won't give any parts out? The company should keep it simple and use the release they've used for years...without problems.
