K-5 Live View

I have only had my K-5 for a couple of months but I was wondering if its normal when your camera is in live view that the camera makes a ?? motor noise??. Its like something is running inside. Not used to this on my old Nikon D80. Also does anyone know how to change my settings so that when I take a picture it stays on my LCD screen instead of disappearing in a second.

Never Heard It

I've had a K-5 for over 6 months now and mine is silent in live view. When you switch to live view the viewfinder mirror flips up - maybe your mirror motor has a problem? The other cause of noise is the dust removal mode that causes the sensor to vibrate - but live view shouldn't activate that.

The length of time an image stays on the screen after shooting can be set in the menu. I think the settings are 1, 3 & 5 seconds. Don't have the camera with me or I could give you the menu number. Hit menu and look for that setting.

I have noticed the same with my K-7, a weak clicking/buzzing/motor sound when in Live View or recording movies. I don't think it is related to the shake reduction since the sound is still there when SR is turned off but maybe related to the mirror flip up as indicated in an earlier post. If this sound is normal or not I don't know (would be nice to know though).

It is normal, what you hear is the drive circuitry holding (not compensating for shake) the sensor in proper place. K-7 and K-5 both do it.

i confirm what Ex Finn says.
There is a noise, because of the floating sensor design... even if SR is turned off, it is still working in order to hold it in place... (but its not compensating for shake)

Thanks Ex Finn and Obscura for your clarification which eliminates my concerns.
