I'll probably order day it starts shipping. Maybe wait for Pentax forums review, however. Was going to switch because of no FF announced, but I'll wait it out now (D600 cost disappointed and certain key features missing.).

K-5 II DNG's may very well open in existing RAW processors, but the absense of a AA filter in for example the IIs will mean RAW processors will need to be updated and optimised to get the most out of IIs DNG's, since the sensor will be outputting differently to the original K-5.
It should not effect the DNG file. Adobe sets the standard for the DNG and Pentax has to release a camera that exports to this standard. That is the whole purpose of having a standard. Camera manufacturers can't create their own version of it. One advantage you have with a camera that exports DNG is that Pentax includes the instructions in the DNG file for the RAW conversion.

Since the AA filter handles color morie it also makes it harder for the RAW processor to tell the difference between real chroma noise and fine detail. Camera without the AA filter The K-5IIs should show less color noise, better detail, better high ISO.

I'll probably get a 2s after it's been out and in use 3-4 months.

I was an early adopter of the K5 and was rewarded with a very spotty sensor and a $100 courier bill to send it to Pentax Canada.... this time I'll wait a bit. I'm sure the K5d-IIs will be awesome, but this time around I'll give others the opportunity to be the lab rats...

Theoretically.

That's the ideal but it doesn't seem to work that way - just look at folks recent experience with Pentax K-30 DNG's (and before that K-x and K-5 DNG's) and RAW processors like Capture One. Each RAW processing engine seems to have it's own camera-specific DNG optimisations, or less charitably, have it's own ideas about how DNG's should be rendered.

From what I understand the problem has been in the way C1 implements DNG support and not a problem with DNG. I downloaded quite a few K-30 DNG files when they first were made available and opened them with LR to compare with my K-5 and I don't remember having any problems with the DNG files.

My aquisition of the IIs will have wait as I'm in the process of doing a partial trade of my beloved LX(original owner)for a second K-5.

Can't wait

I'm going to order the 18-135 kII kit when B and H opens back up. Looks like I will have to wait until Oct 10th until I can place my order. My current body is a k10d so I'm really excited. I have a lot of 2.8 lenses so I hope that the focus speed lives up to the hype. October 15th is also my birthday too...Oh Pentax, How did you know?

I have a IIs on order from B&H also. I haven't heard anything about ship dates other than the expected arrival date is 10/15.
