Will old Pentax-A 50mm 1:2 fit my K5

Does anyone know if a old 50 mm 1:2 Pentax -A fit my K5. I have been told that it will but as a beginner I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as it fits ok but juts unable to take a picture. any help would be great.

In order for the K5 to be able to use the auto aperture of the A lens, you need to go into the menu page C4 item 27, and select 2
This allows the camera to read the aperture ring on the A lens IF you select 'A' on the lens.
You can use aperture priority then, or manual. Of course you must focus manually.

If it is on A, but still isn't working, clean the electrical contacts of the lens with some alcohol.

With the lens on A, all metering modes will work, Av, Tv, TAV and even Auto.

Dear Elliott thank you for all your help ,I got it working. Just have to get better using it like they did before automatic. Considering I only paid $15 its great so far.

It should work in A mode too, but it sounds like the lens may be damaged.
