Rope like that is made up of very fine fiber twisted over and over and over. Here is a 100% crop from my Sigma 50 1.4 at F2:
As you can see - if the twines are fine and in a constant pattern, it could result in moire under certain circumstances.
Now, whether or not the k-5II is susceptible to such patterns, that's another story.
