Some K-5 IIs samples to download

Hi All --
I received my K-5 IIs yesterday, just as Hurricane Sandy was hitting us.
Needless to say, not the best conditions for shooting with a new camera.
I've uploaded some preliminary pix here: Pentax K-5 IIs Samples - sticksandstonesphoto's Photos
These are simply for experimentation--no award winners.
They're OOC JPGs--feel free to download and pixel peep to your heart's content.
I'll upload a few more over the next few days.
Please use them for personal use only.
Joe

BTW, some of the files are converted from DNG to JPG in Lightroom. I'll indicate which ones are converted.

Woods and river pic

Joe, the pic of the woods and river is really lovely, much better than just a quick pic!

Thanks D&K!
Sometimes the quick ones are the best.

I agree that is a lovely scene, I take it you were pretty far from Sandy. At least around here (SFL) hurricanes do not leave any leaves.

Thanks!
I live in an apartment complex in central CT that didn't see really high winds, aside from the occasional strong gust. However, other parts of town, not to mention the general vicinity, had quite a few trees down. We also were lucky in that the power didn't go out for more than 3 minutes. I was surprised to see leaves left on the trees, too!

Thanks for allowing us to DL the pics so we can see what the new cam can do. Karen is really excited for me to get a K5IIs so she can get the K5 to replace her K7(which will go into a car kit with the 18-55wr and 50-200wr).

You are lucky! A few years ago, I had no power for 3 weeks after a hurricane. It was not fun, although my freezer did get a long overdue cleaning ;-)

Happy to help. I know what it's like when new gear comes out.

3 weeks? Man, I'd go nuts if I had to do that!
Last year, we lost power for 5 days from Hurricane Irene. And then, for 10 days from Snowstorm Alfred. We had to live in my gf's mom's living room for a week. That's roughing it for me.

I just realized that the conversion from DNG to JPG results in a significant difference in image quality, so keep that in mind when viewing my converted shots. This is true whether I use Lightroom or Photoshop. Maybe I should shoot RAW+JPG...

I am having a devil of a time getting the raw conversion to my liking. I am not sure why it is so much harder than my K-01 but I stil can't get my dng's to look as good as the raw files developed in the camera. I am using Aperture and DxO8 but am not there yet. OT, starting at iso 3200 and up, the image quality of the K-01 is noticeably better.
