My K5IIs so far

Today was an imperfect storm (no offence intended northeasterners :-)
UPS delivered my K5IIs, which was very exciting, my first Pentax DSLR, my other camera is a K-01
A few minutes later my brother pulled up in his car and pointed out that he had a bee which would not leave his windshield.
In a frenzy, I grabbed the K5, inserted the battery and card from the K-01, K5 battery is still charging... attached my 100mm and went at it.

Here are some 100% crops, the first pic (082) is a jpg straight from camera after which i realized it was set to jpg and managed to change it to raw, unfortunately i couldn't figure out how to choose the focus points (i am a center point focus and reframer) so focus here is hit or miss. However, if you look at the bee's eyes you can see what looks to me like false color moire. This does not exist in the jpg.
I would be happy to share the raw files, if anyone is interested please tell me how!
for now i will be reading the manual to try to figure out how to use the new baby! (sadly for some many cat pictures will follow).

btw. does aperture really not support PEF? I hadn't switched the camera to DNG and so had to use Dxo8 (a tad buggy) instead.

Jeff

When a new camera comes out it takes Apple longer to create the import profile than many other companies. Within a month or two they usually have it.

Hmmm, I don't think that's moire, looks more like a dead bee with dehydrating eyes (when insects die their eyes dehydrate and lose colour like this). Difficult to tell though as there also seems to be reflection of the sun on there. I've always thought moire was the circular patterns on insect eyes ie see below but someone may want to correct me?

I think what you're seeing is CA. Nass's photo shows moire.

What you see here is moiré that was created by downsizing an image. It is not present in the original file.

That's the insect's eye pattern. What Jeff's images needed was a steadier hand with a more stopped down lens.

I have to say that the AF is impressively fast, relative to my K-01. Although the new firmware improved the K-01 dramatically, it is still not on this level.
