@monkeygod - Killer work !! Metric, Sigur Ros and Stars are 3 of my faves. Love the b&w of Amy and Evan in the Stars portfolio.

A few older K-5 pub shots that I had forgotten about, in a venue where the lighting made post-processing very challenging.

Thanks. He was very interesting to photograph - very expessive and animated. But in retrospect, I should have done some extra PP on that pic to clean up more of the green.

Great shots rawr. I'm always amazed to see how sharp and clean your pictures are.

Here are a few shots from a swingers' concert that took place last Thursday at one of Montreal's most notorious venues, the beautiful Rialto Theater. I used 3 lenses this time. The place wasn't very well lit so I shot mostly at 3200-6400 and 12800 (dancers).

Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC HSM

smc Pentax-FA 50mm f/1.4

smc Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM

smc Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM

smc Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM

A quick view of the interior of the Rialto. Such a nice venue.

Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC HSM

Again with the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC HSM

Some swingers shot with the Pentax-FA 50mm f/1.4 this time.

The full photo set on my Blogger.

A set from Jewel

Got these with the K-5 IIs and a Pentax-F 50mm f/1.7 and the Pentax-F 28mm f/2.8. I still have to "dial in" my 50 for this camera but i think they turned out pretty well.

Alright this topic is definitely of my liking since this is the kind of photography I'd like to pursue professionally if I ever make it to that status at some point.

Here's a bunch of pictures with the K-5 from 2011-2013 (and one with the *istD thrown in for good measure, while my K-5 was being serviced).

I Blame Coco

Malika Ayane

Hooverphonic

(This one above with the *istD. I'm still unsure whether I take better pictures with it or the K-5, first love is a special one, you know!)

Geike

San'jyla

Rocé

These two on the other hand are from a children's play by the theatre company I work for.

Boy that was long.
Anyway, there you go! Keep 'em coming, y'all!

Yes, great set hooverfocus!

I went to a fun show last night, Toubab Krewe. An interesting mix of jam rock and West African sounds. They are all great musicians and it was really fun.
I shot these for the bar to use on social media.
K-5 & either Tamron 28-25/2.8 or Rokinin 8mm f/3.5

Nice pics guys !

Really like the Hoverphonic #1 and the one taken with *ist
Haze + lighting = great pictures !

*****
7 of my pics were chosen for an exhibition at the Centre Mandapa, Paris - France from april 3rd to april 27th.
Funny enough their choice is very different from what I was thinkin on bringin to them !

and below are some of the last concert or recital I did there.

Priya Venkataraman #1

Priya Venkataraman #2

Ensemble Badeli #1

Ensemble Badeli #2

Trio Altyn Tuu #1

Trio Altyn Tuu #2

All theses pics were taken with the combination of K5 + DA* 50-135mm that I just bought a couple weeks ago.
This lens is really great for concert photography, especially when not too far from the stage but it really needs a faster focusing system !
Im still learning the lens though !

Hope you like it !

Amazing POVs MattB!
I really should get a fast wide to shoot concerts. I've only just acquired a 70-200 and I already find it makes a difference (I had always, always used the 28-75 for 90% of the time till then) in the way I do things, but I do love the look of wide shots.

DimC, if I have some time I'll come check your exhibit. I'm also located in Paris now.

Thanks. That cheap fisheye has been a lot of fun and very worth it. But you have to be right in their faces to use it at a concert! Since the venue had me shoot for them I had access to be that close which was also pretty fun.
The fisheye isn't all that fast with a max aperture of 3.5 but combined with high ISO it's fast enough for stuff like this or night sky shots too.
Like you the 28-75 is a staple for me at concerts if I'm close enough.
I've also used my Sears 135/2.8 when I needed more reach but I don't usually go to concerts that would need much more than that. I have used my A*300/4 for dance recitals in a big auditorium.

Here's a couple of shots from the 135 at small local venues from the seats.
