That is a surprise to me that you would need it for WR. I've lost mine. Where does one get replacement? I probably need half a dozen! How do you NOT lose them?

Heh. I remember taking it off when I got the body and putting it somewhere. I emptied out my drawer of camera junk and found it and the viewfinder cap. I wonder how many of them are floating around somewhere.
I remember, when I got my first DSLR (*ist DL) i realized, knowing myself, that I had a problem. So, I took off the hotshoe cap and stored it together with the viewfinder cap in a cigar box together with the cables. Same story, when I got my K200D and then again when I got my K-5. And - very unusual for me - I now have three intact sets.

I carry one hotshoe cap in a small box in my camera bag all the time and only put it on when I want to shoot in rainy weather. So far, so good......

Always raining here and like you I lost my hotshoe cover long ago... Still shoot in the rain and no adverse effects noted... Regularly use flashguns with no problem...
