Thanks for comment, rupert. Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the k5iis, hope you are able to get it fixed, it's a great camera.

Currently shopping for a K5IIs. I spent several hours Sat comparing my K1 shots with my old K5IIs shots. The K5IIs won easily against the K1 Crop Mode.

If you compare the shots in this thread to any other Pentax body, you will quickly see that the K5IIs is hard to beat for IQ. I will say again, if it only had the same AF system as the K1, it would be a KILLER camera! If you have a K5IIs you had better hang on to it, anything else is likely to disappoint you.

Regards!

Wow. I've been wondering about how K1 did in crop mode. Good luck with the hunt. You should be able to find one at a great price.

I came to the conclusion early-on that the K-5IIs would become a desirable body (I never stepped up to the K-3) so I bought three while available new, one still in the box.

I may get the K-1 for Christmas, but will keep these crop-frames.

What are you saying Racer? You have a K5IIs, so would you like that crate of squirrels offer? I'd even give you two crates, after all, I have plenty to spare!

Regards!

Before you guys sell off your K5IIs take a look at this and see if you will gain or not going to a K1?
Pentax K-1 vs Pentax K-5 IIs

Other than the much better K1 AF, I still prefer the K5IIs and though the difference is subtle, I do see it in comparison shots. Keep your K5IIs...all but the one gambler that will sell me his!

Regards!

I've been thinking about selling my K5iis, but it seems that my obsession with K-1 comes to senses (finally! ), and today, after a long time, I walked out my K5iis around the art fest. It's smaller and lighter, and forgot how I love it. Not selling. Nope.
