Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2@ 1/60th f/5.6 @ ISO 80
At f/1.2 the Pentax 50mm f/1.2 requires some coaxing to reveal how sharp it is - though using a camera without an AA filter reduces the need for this. But at f/4~f/8 there is no question that it can deliver impressive detail across the frame. But it is
soft sharpness, there is still some latitude for sharpening and images are rich with detail and micro-contrast. This lens doesn't deliver the somewhat harsh
bitingly high contrast sharpness like the DA limited and DA* lenses often create*. I suspect the coatings are responsible for this - the 50mm f/1.2 is after all a lens from the film era.
*though it can certainly be made to deliver this kind of sharpness. The quality of light on the subject, combined with the coatings on the lens and the design of the lens itself plays an important role in how a lens renders a scene.
