LoL! Nice call Frederic, note to self: put long piece of rope in camera bag for future late-hour wildlife and kayaking photo adventures.
Nice idea ! But take a long enough rope to reach the banks !

With HDR software you get unnatural results even if you don't boost the saturation.
There is a solution : DRI (Dynamic Range Increase). You can do it manually or automatically (with layers and masks).
Here an example : DRI of 2 photos (-2 and 0 Ev) 5 sec anf 20 sec. That's the reason why the lamps are not blown !

A tutorial : How to make realistic HDR

Nice FS! I don't do much in the HDR arena, I did a few squirrels in HDR once long ago and they said it made them look spooky and it scared the little ones. So they asked, and not to politely, that I never do another one. I haven't......just normal squirrels are spooky enough for me!

Regards!

I've made a tutorial some time ago... But it is too big to upload here.
You can download it here : DRI effect tutorial (15.5 MB).

Otis says every new page needs to start off with some handsome squirrels. Since this is a Sunday morning, it's a good day to start.....

"Looks like this Cheater Branch is a good place to start the week!"

"Could be a little wider, but I think I can make it work?"

"Oh yeah! It works just fine for my needs! You guys have a great week too!"

Regards!

Thanks FS! There was a ham sandwich out there but the raccoons had already eaten it.

My last shot late yesterday evening. It was a perfect pose but it didn't turn out as well as what I saw through the viewfinder, which we all know is not so uncommon.

Still, I kind of like it for the "mood". The Jpeg actually had more light and detail than my Raw conversion, but failed to convey the "mood" I wanted....if you know what I mean?

Regards!

I like the way it looks. The only thing that could have made it a better shot is an evil looking Otis coming out of the dark background.

All nice stuff...but the blooms are spectacular, just perfect. Very fine shooting!

Thank you 1952! Otis had retired for the day already.....he had some girly squirrel visitors up in his big treetop penthouse to view his vacation photos from last winter in the Caribbean....anyhow, that's what he said they were going to be doing up there?

Shot this just a few minutes ago tonight...he's not playing anything but "find the food"!

A couple more from today...

He's squawking about something.....maybe the menu doesn't suit him?

I do like this one shot late in the day on the "cheater branch". The light was right.

Best Regards!

Nice. I don't think I've ever seen a dragonfly with a red body before.
