Otis is going to pretend he didn't see that...and even if he had, a Peacock is no match for a Siberian Rainbow Squirrel......very rare but still with some attributes hanging that no birdie can match!

That Jay is still complaining that he took a bath just to compete and never had a chance....he claims bias and wants a do-over!

"I even took my dreaded Saturday bath."

"All that scrubbing ...for nothing?"

" Well, at least I look more handsome now than any damn old squirrel!"

Regards!

Thanks FS!...but just moments ago Otis sent this squirrel out on the Cheater Branch in response and I think we can both agree with Otis it beats the crappy out of a dumb lookin' bird! Look at that magnificent tail! What bird can match that!
Don't ask me to choose between the tails...

EDIT: Just shot moments ago...this old fellow responded to the squirrel and claims doves provide better Bigma bokeh than squirrels...and he could be right! Looks like we might have a squirrel/dove war going on? Who doesn't love a good animal war!
Don't tell me to choose between bokehs ;D

FS.....I had a rubber stamp made to stamp all your shots "Superior" but the ink was made with peanut oil and a damn squirrel came along and ate the whole thing...and drank up the bottle of ink too.

So, I'll pick #10 as my favorite because it is so delicate...and my favorite color too! #4 and #6 were close seconds. All Superior...if I still had my stamp!

I love them all, but I especially love Medieval and Classical European architecture. Very nice all!

If Otis needs some help I'll give him a hint...

Otis needs more help than we can ever provide, but he lives in total denial!

This is the second brood of Cardinals this year. They are very family oriented birds, and here the older brother (around 3 months old) helps feed his new little sister (about 4-6 weeks old). This has been a very common scene this year in the Woods of Otis....a record year for new Cardinals.

"Help me big brother...I am so hungry!"

"Open wide, it's gonna be delicious!"

Cardinals are the ugliest of birds when young, just scroungy and unkept looking....but they grow out of it by mid winter and are majestic!
A very proud young male with his completed "uniform" of color!

Regards!

Update:The war is over.....wasn't that fast! Shock and Awe by Otis......he put together a "Fair and Balanced" panel of 10 non-partial squirrels to make a judgment, and the squirrel shot won by a landslide! Isn't democracy wonderful!

Meanwhile, this Jay keeps squawking..."I didn't get my chance?"

Regards!
Just back from all too brief visit to a lakeside cottage. More photos soon, but here are some greetings for Otis from one of the lake's loons.

Otis appreciates the greeting and loves that outfit the Loon is wearing, he says that is high fashion at its highest!

Shot these late in the evening yesterday....

Spanish doves also wear some nice and unusual outfits.

No fakery here, this is how they look in real life.

I used to have more of them around....don't know what happened to thin them out? Maybe this winter they will return in larger numbers.

Regards!

Same little Spanish dove showed up late this evening on the Cheater Branch.

I know you guys are looking for handsome squirrels, and I'll try harder to get a few shots for you!

These are terrific, Rupert!

Here are a few more shots of lake Palmerston. I hope to winnow my approximately 9000 shots of loons and post a few more.

Thanks! I love your canoe shot, so peaceful! That last one is so nice with all that blue! Looks like you have enjoyed your visit. Post more.....maybe you got a couple of handsome squirrels in there somewhere for Otis?

Squirrels ran out of cold beer here in this heat, and are refusing to pose until the Beer Truck arrives this afternoon...maybe I'll get a shot or two then?

Regards!

Hey FS? You didn't like my last two little birdies? Otis says you're a good man, no point in looking at stupid birds!

Guys just a word of caution, don't ever let Otis cut your hair!

"He cut mine and look what he did!"

"Why the bitchin'? He was damn lucky I didn't cut off his ugly head!

"Ive got serious business to do, I don't have time for stupid birds!"

Just another day in the Woods of Otis!

Oh yeah, while shooting these another Big Chicken came around to visit me....from somewhere? But that's a whole 'nother story!

Regards!
