Here's my boring one from the equator. 16-50 and yet the details are good enough for me after heavy cropping, got to love the K5IIs;

Holy jeezus, I didn't pay much attention to the hoopla around the 's' version until I stumbled through this thread. The pics that have dead on focus positively POP with details. Insane!

Love the details in this shot Lightbulb. I'm not a pro. Hard to be a pro taking concert shots in Australia. There's only room for a couple of pros in each state. But I love live music and photography so I do it whenever I can.

Here is one of the ice dunes on Lake Erie. Shot with the Tamron 70-300mm Di.

Have you guys noticed that this camera really picks up the blues in white areas like snow? I know i have to adjust the settings on this a bit more but i'm seeing quite a bit more blue exposure than on my K-x. Purple fringing seems to be worse on wide open lenses than on my k-x. Is this a setting thing i just haven't tweaked right yet?

Indeed, I have noticed that in certain situations the K5IIs renders a touch cooler than the K-5 but not all the time. The red channel seems to be much better behaved than before so this is a likely result. As for PF, as others have written, the unsullied sensor is now a harsh mistress and will readily show up any shortcomings of your lenses.

PF = Purple Fringing. Usually seen in high contrast areas of an image such as a backlit tree branch, etc. As I understand it, it is a consequence of light hitting the sensor sensels at a high angle.

I've spent the last week in New Orleans doing photography with the K5 IIs during Mardi Gras. Had a wonderful time. Shot over 1500 frames during a five day stay.

The K5 IIs performed perfectly. No problems, no glitches, no lockups.. just good dependable photography. The weather was a bit rainy and damp but the K5 was totally unaffected. Worst case situation was Tuesday night when there was fog rolling in off the Mississippi River and I was waiting to shoot the Trolley line that rolls beside the river. The fog caused a bit of condensation on the front element of the DA* 16-50mm but I was able to keep it clear by using a bit of lens tissue. The K5 IIs is a keeper. AF was accurate and performed extremely well in very dark situations at night.

The shot below is the kind of shot I drive 8.5 hours to take. Mardi Gras is so much more than the drunkenness and flashing on Bourbon Street. This was taken with the DA*16-50mm f/2.8 ISO 200 @ 1/80s.
