Well, it was sort of in private - down amongst the bushes and I had to use ISO 8000 to get a shot!

Nice shots. However, the collar on the back of its neck and its eye colour make it a Eurasian Collared-Dove (Streptopelia decaocto), now breeding all the way to the west coast and northward beyond the 49th parallel.

Awesome shot and a very interesting subject too. Capturing that little guy in flight so well is an impressive achievement.

Beautiful detail especially at iso 800.

I find that ISO 800 is very usable on both the K5 and K5IIS, and just great for keeping the shutter speed up with long lenses and moving subjects like birds. Sometimes a bit of background noise reduction is required in post-processing, but that's easily done.

I agree about the higher ISOs. I shot this sunset at 800 ISO and f22 to get the starburst from the setting sun. Also...a goose. Sunset shot with my 43mm Limited prime, and the goose with my DA* 60-250 handheld at 250mm.

I have no issue with using my K5IIs up to ISO 12800 - Sometimes it is the difference between getting the shot and not.
