seakayaker- nice perspective. I've bagged most of those Olympic Peaks and love to shoot then when the weather cooperates. Thanks for sharing great shots.

My buddy Ernie taking a break from playing fetch this afternoon.

Nisa waiting for Ernie to run by chasing the ball so she can chase him. She's a weirdo. No interest in the ball at all but she loves chasing Ernie.

I'm starting to feel comfortable with the K5ii. I've figured out that a lot of techniques I learned on my D3100 were specific to that camera, not photography in general. So I'm re-learning a lot. It's frustrating because my dud rate has increased dramatically.

Some focus stacking, tamron 70-200 at 200mm + raynox 250, crop 100% and then resize 50%.

Some more pics!

Some crazy dinosaur statues that are all over downtown Pittsburgh.

And the irises in my yard finally bloomed.

Shot these hand held with the DA*60-250 at 250mm, ISO 200, f 7.1. My patience was rewarded with an intensely pink Mt. Rainier. The guy in the hydro was really cooking so great practice at pan and burst shooting.

Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2@ 1/60th f/5.6 @ ISO 80

At f/1.2 the Pentax 50mm f/1.2 requires some coaxing to reveal how sharp it is - though using a camera without an AA filter reduces the need for this. But at f/4~f/8 there is no question that it can deliver impressive detail across the frame. But it is soft sharpness, there is still some latitude for sharpening and images are rich with detail and micro-contrast. This lens doesn't deliver the somewhat harsh bitingly high contrast sharpness like the DA limited and DA* lenses often create*. I suspect the coatings are responsible for this - the 50mm f/1.2 is after all a lens from the film era.

*
though it can certainly be made to deliver this kind of sharpness. The quality of light on the subject, combined with the coatings on the lens and the design of the lens itself plays an important role in how a lens renders a scene.

I loved my K5, but my K5iis just blows me away...

It's great for nature shots:

Shake reduction seems even more stable, this is 1/8s @ f16 handheld

And is simply awesome in low light when shooting RAW

Can be pulled to this with no effort...
