DSTE Battery on eBay sold me some that have worked fine. 2200 maH, so slightly higher capacity than the OEM batteries. Though, I would not recommend their battery grip.

Wasabi aftermarket

I just purchased the wasabi 7.2V, 2300mAh batteries and charger from Amazon. I have charged and checked them but only time will tell if they last. The charger looks well made and the batteries work with the Pentax charger!
I did have an aftermarket set for the K-r that have worked very well for over a year and just sold them with the camera. They would not charge in the Pentax charger though.

+1 on the Wasabi. Have had good results with them in three different cameras, they are usually sold in pairs with a charger for under $30! I've had bad luck with other, no-name batteries, usually they wouldn't hold a full charge within a year.

I have 3 Pentax, I Pearstone from B&H that I've had for over 3 years, and a recently acquired Wasabi. I've used them interchangeably and notice no difference. I also have 2 Wasabis for my Q, and have no complaints -- they seem to be a quality alternative brand.

Purchased a Hähnel HL-PL-90 (7,2V, 1560 mAh) together with the K-5. Battery works great, although sometimes you have to nudge it on the original Pentax charger in order for it to start charging, but once it does there are no problems.

I bought a Pearstone together with my K5 and I've been using it alternatingly with the original since then without any problem or difference.

I also bought a Pearstone with my K5II and have not yet noticed any difference in usage versus the Pentax battery.

I've used Pearstones from B&H for the K-5, and also for the K-10D and a Canon compact. All have been fine. Wasabi's seem to have good reviews and are even cheaper -- maybe I'll try one of those as well...

Wasabi - I actually picked up a backup battery - well a pair. They last about 90% of the OEM in terms of images, but they recharge in about an hour. Come as a pair, with a recharger that is smaller than the OEM. There is absolutely nothing not to like!

Another vote for the Wasabi brand. I haven’t noticed a perceptible difference with the OEM battery for my K-5. However, the recharger that came with the package was a bit of a disappointment. Mine only lasted about a month. I now use the OEM charger which seems to work without issue for the Wasabi batteries. For under $30 it is hard to go wrong.

I alternate between stock and an Adorama (Lenmar) without a noticeable difference.

Pentax batteries are 3rd party batteries as well, if you did not know.
