Might get an optech too. Or are Black Rapids better?

I agree I have really noticed on the trip I just completed that the K5iis strap gets a lot more twisted than the straps for the K200 and K7.

I thought the strap that came with my K-5 was a joke, so I've ordered another. The strap and body cap are the only things I have spotted so far that let it down in comparison to its Canikon counterparts... and, lets face it, those are pretty small complaints, but they do make a difference.

Didn't notice if it was different to previous versions, mine never came out of the box.
I fitted a "Gordy's" leather wrist strap.

OP/TECH Neoprene is simply the most comfortable and useful wrist strap I have ever used. Had one in use for years.

+1 My choice currently is a Novoflex model - easily demountable and quite short.

What I got out of this is this-

If the strap is that much of a concern to complain about like this, then perhaps the products are pretty ok.

Why should they put money into great straps when probably 98% of the people who buy their cameras don't even use them? Honestly how many of you actually use the default straps? I don't. I never even put them on new cameras and if they're on used ones I take them off. I've never found a brand strap to be comfortable, at least one that's not 50 some years old anyhow. The wide cotton canvas one from the original Spottie is nice. Anything after that I think they all kind of suck. Too skinny, too much plastic, or they're scratchy to wear. I have a whole pile of branded straps just sitting in bag in a drawer that I'll never use. I figured probably that was the norm. They probably think why bother since most people will replace it with a more expensive one they like better anyway. A good strap can be had for under $20 so why would you ever use a thin scratchy brand strap anyway? To me that's just a bit masochistic really. :P

I do. Aftermarket ones don't have that nice Pentax logo on them.

Since I have developed stenosis in my neck, I have switched to using a Cotton Carrier vest over straps.
