Sigma 10-20mm vs Pentax 15mm limited

Anyone have any experience on these two lenses?

It's interesting that Sigma was able to better the the fixed aperature on a 2x zoom. The Sigma zoom also has nearly the optical quality of the Pentax fixed. As far as build quality - even though the Sigma is priced less - it has considerably better build quality. And one Pentax cannot quite figure out yet - why the Sigma zoom can also focus considerably faster than a Pentax fixed?

Again, even noting current line-ups Sigma is running rings around Pentax - unless someone might also really have the need for pancakes. And from Sigma it's only going to get better - all while Pentax is almost stalling

I had a Sigma 10-20, which I enjoyed using but found images from it were rather soft.
That said, it is nevertheless a decent lens that I wouldn't try and dissuade anybody from buying.
I sold mine and replaced it with a DA15 limited, which I find is much sharper, as well as being smaller and more convenient to carry around. I don't miss the Sigma. I doubt I'll ever sell the DA15.

Thanks for your input. That puts the Pentax at the top for consideration from me.

15mm on an APS-C is not what most consider an ultra-wide, but 10mm definitiely is. The difference between 10mm and 15mm is vast. If you don't have a need for something as wide as 10mm ( a lot of people don't, that is 15mm equivalent on a full frame which is pretty exotic) then the 15mm is a fine lens.

I have both atm, the sigma 10-20mm is very handy being a zoom. 20mm is a good focal length and 10mm is really wide but it doesn't start becoming sharp until f8.0. The pentax however is much sharper wide open but of course no zoom. Both render colours very nicely, you can't go wrong with either.

Someone almost always brings this issue up in the Sigma vs. Limited threads -- I guess it's my turn!

Consider size and weight. The Sigma 10-20 is much larger and heavier than the 15 Ltd. If you like to carry a small bag, that makes it much more likely you'll have the 15 with you when you're out and about.

This is certainly true for me.

EDIT: I see Percy brought this up too.
