K-5 II vs K-5 IIs

I don't know if I should buy the K-5 II or the K-5 IIs?????

Buy the k5IIs. The difference in price is negligible and the removal of the AA filter on the IIs is a big, big deal..........

O, if you are strapped for cash, you could buy the old K-5 for something like $400 less.

The difference isn't huge, but it's there. And yeah, the normal K-5 is still a great bargain considering it's almost the same camera.

Not a price issue. I'm going to do a lot of portrait work with it. I'm afraid the IIs will be TOO sharp. (can't believe I'm saying that.)

I've got a k5 primary and k20 secondary (though I still use my k20 for most of my real estate work). My next move, after having just purchased a DA*50-135 here, is to get the k5IIs. If you're upgrading from a k7 or below, I would say the original k5 is a tremendous value. But the k5IIs, in my humble opinion, is absolutely the best - in - class APS dslr on the market right now, hands down.

I have to agree about the K5IIs - the image and AF are a class above the plain K5 and worth every penny, and I own both.

The IIs might introduce moire into your portraits, if there is fine detail on clothes or something. The two cameras, though, are literally the same except for the AA filter in the regular II. Just think of what you'd rather have: save $100 but experience "regular" sharpness (but very little chance of moire)? Or have extreme super sharp results but with a higher chance of moire? Sharpness is great, but personally I would take the regular K5ii because I never print large and very rarely crop my images (never more than ~30% anyways). I don't think I would see a difference in regular viewing. It would be more of a gimmick to my personal style of photography. Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about moire.

I had the same decision last December and the price was a decision maker. Not the price of the camera itself, but the different kit's that were available at that time. I wanted the 18-135mm kit lens and it was only offered with the K-5 II or K-30. The discount with lens was worth it for me.

For sharpness and colour resolution I think the K-5 II.s is excellent. Oh! And out of hundreds of shots I've only experienced moire twice so I don't see that as a biggie.

K-5 or K-5IIs Not really worth investing a K-5II, unless you're shooting in low light and aren't comfortable manually focusing yet.

The K-5IIs outsells the K-5II where I am, and for good reason. The image sharpness straight out of the camera is so much better. And as a K-5IIs owner, it's interesting that the moire issue gets blown out of proportion, mostly by non-K5IIs owners. Like other K-5IIs who shoot birds or repeating patterns or people, I haven't found moire or increased sharpness an issue at all. If anything it really reduces my time post processing as I don't have to do image pre-sharpening or much post-sharpening. As for me, there is so much positives with the K-5IIs that I will never revert back to a K-5.

K5iis or k5. Don't forget once you crop your photos the former gives more details. The ii had too much artefacts under heavy cropping.

The difference is anything but little in that respect.
